Love her or hate her, Taylor Swift is one of the most successful music artists of all time. Her textbook breakup songs and songs subliminally directed at other people are her bread and better. Taylor Swift is out there stirring the pot constantly. Her fans are always trying to decipher her lyrics and figure out who the songs are targeted at. A lot of these songs end up getting written after Tay Tay has a bad breakup or some kind of beef in the media. She’s out here burying the opposition through song, personally, I miss a good ole music beef. We’re really lacking a good music feud nowadays. Remember when Eminem was putting Nick and Mariah in a body bag? I do. We need more musical beef! For now, we’ll have to settle for Taylor’s breakups and stuff she’s still mad about since 2009.
It may be sometimes difficult to keep up with Taylor and her new enemies or most recent relationship. It’s stressful, I get it. Luckily we’ve comprised a list breaking down of Taylor’s songs and who they are potentially aimed at.
1. Look What You Made Me Do:
Now this being Taylor’s most popular song on the list at the moment many people may already be savvy to her textbook subliminal lyrical warfare.
I don’t like your little games/ Don’t like your tilted stage/ The role you made me play/ Of the fool, no, I don’t like you
This is an obvious shot at Kanye West who uses a tilted stage on his tour (I thought it was pretty cool) she is obviously not over the infamous 2009 MTV VMA’s. She also features snakes in the video which is directed towards none other than Kim Kardashian who has referenced Taylor Swift as “a snake.”
2. I Knew You Were Trouble:
The song is an absolute banger without any subliminal drama. Leave it up to Taylor to make sure we’re covered with the best of both worlds.
A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be/ And now I see, now I see, now I see/ He was long gone when he met me
Who could this be directed at? We believe it to be fellow music superstar Harry Styles we have our suspicions that Taylor has penned numerous songs about Harry. Including the song titled “Style” Taylor performed “I Knew You Were Trouble” at the BRIT’s in 2013. When asked how she felt performing the hit she replied, ‘Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching.’ And who was by the side of the stage watching? You guessed it. Boom goes the dynamite!
3. We Are Never Getting Back Together:
Another track that is absolutely straight hot fire coming from Taylor. Many people wonder who this classic jam might be aimed at? Well, we’re here to help you out.
I say, “I hate you” We break up, you call me, “I love you” Ooh, we called it off again last night, but ooh this time, i’m telling you i’m telling you.
If you’re thinking who could this break up anthem possibly be about? Many speculate it to be Jake Gyllenhaal. The couple had been known to be dating for a few months before the release of the song. Many spotted Gyllenhaal in Nashville with Swift not long after the couple supposedly split. A few weeks later the world was gifted with “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” You do the math.
