Ashton Kutcher Doesn’t Share Photos Of His Kids On Social Media And Parents Should Listen Up

We all know Ashton Kutcher from That 70’s Show, Punk’d, Two and a Half Men (kinda?) and that Steve Jobs movie that everyone forgot about. We also know him from being married to Mila Kunis. Despite being a celebrity, and one-half of a Hollywood power couple, Kutcher and Kunis keep their lives relatively private.

In fact, though they have 2 kids — Wyatt and Dimitri age 3 and 1 respectively — Ashton and Mila don’t go around posting pictures of them on social media like most parents. Nor do they get multi-page photo spreads in People Magazine like other celebrities.

Speaking on the podcast Thrive Global, Kutcher revealed his reason why:

We don’t share any photos of our kids publicly because we feel that being public is a personal choice. My wife and I have chosen a career where we’re in the public light, but my kids have not so I think they have the right to choose that. I actually don’t think they should have images of them as children that somebody could potentially blackmail them with.

Good point. He also noted the fact that, while he and Mila have chosen public lives, his kids have not, and the choice is not his to make. “It’s their private life,” Kutcher said. “It’s not mine to give away. Your social profile is yours to create, not for someone to create for you.”

Considering the fact that kids who grow up in the public spotlight don’t usually turn out so well, it feels like Ashla (Kutchnis? Miton?) has made the right choice. Kutcher also spoke about the fact that having kids shifted his priorities greatly. “I am Wyatt and Dimitri’s dad,” he said, “and everything else is secondary.”
