Women’s roles in society have done a bit of changing in the last 20 years. Not nearly as much change as needed but it has definitely progressed a bit. This homework assignment 8-year-old Yasmin received some homework from 2 decades ago she answered it the best way she knew how to. Yasmin’s parents are both surgeons so when the homework asked to write a word for “hospital lady” she gave the obvious answer. Even though the term “hospital lady” is pretty ridiculous.
I know the homework is from 20 years ago but regardless of the outdated terms this test just sucks. I mean “meat for Christmas”. Maybe it’s a Catholic school but even if it is that is just a terrible “write the word” question. Doesn’t the teacher look at these before they are handed out?
This test was on “ur” words and the answer key was looking for “nurse”. Luckily, Yasmin has a kick-ass teacher who thinks her answer was great! 10/10 just like the rest of the world thinks. Her dad was obviously proud of his daughter’s intelligent answer. He decided to tweet it out to share with us all and we couldn’t be happier he did!

It is a bit strange that the school is using homework from 20 years ago. I guess it is encouraging to see on paper that times have changed a bit. I don’t blame her for the Christmas meat question it took me a few seconds but “Hospital lady’? C’mon now. Hasn’t her teacher ever seen an episode of Grey’s Anatomy? We applaud your answer, Yasmin and so does Twitter! They loved this bright girl’s awesome answer but many also wondered how they can assign homework so incredibly outdated?
Hospital lady?
More power to your daughter! Go girl! Be anything you want to be xxx

Girl might not have turkey but she’s sure got sass. Time for new handouts, ❤️ from 🇨🇦.

The copyright date at the bottom shows 1997! Good grief, they haven't updated their worksheets in 20 years? For shame! (❤️ her answers tho!)

Now I get why 'nurse' is expected on that particular worksheet, but who the fuck thought the best cue for that answer was 'hospital lady'?

Neither actually fits. Surgeons and nurses can be both male and female. The answer is outdated and sexist.

Blimey – the wurksheet is from 1997!! Don't believe it!

I assume that they're writing "or Surgeon" on other kids papers!

Maybe it’s about time to switch up the curriculum? One thing that should never change is this little girls attitude, that’s for damn sure!
