If you’re like me, it’s impossible to function in the morning without a bit of coffee in your system. After your first cup, you hit a wall midway through your day and need a little boost. It’s hard to focus on your menial work and tasks when all you can think about is how badly you’d rather be in bed, toasty and cozy under your down comforter watching something hilarious on Netflix.
If you’re someone who likes to buy their coffee, this can be a huge issue–especially with places as overpriced as Starbucks. Think about it: you probably have 2-4 coffees a day and if you add up how much money you’re spending on refueling your soul, it could be a bit traumatic.
Don’t fret, though, there’s a way you can still get you deliciously overpriced Starbucks coffee without totally breaking the bank. According to Glamour, Starbucks apparently offers free refills to some of their loyal customers, but there’s only a select few who get to bask in this perk.
According to the company, Starbucks offers free refills to customers who are on the green or gold level of their rewards program. If you’re a frequent Starbucks go-er, it probably won’t be too hard to reach that level of VIP. You probably go to Starbucks at least 5 times a week, so if you use your card every time, you’ll get to that level in no time.
But, there are two more rules when it comes to refills. First, you have to pay for the first drink with your registered Starbucks’ card. So, if you don’t have one, get one pronto. The second rule is a bit more difficult for those who have to rush into work ASAP after waiting on the longest line in all of history for their java–you have to stay in Starbucks while drinking your first cup. So, if you leave the ‘Bucks, you can’t come back for a refill.
The free refills only work with a select few drinks too, like brewed coffee, iced coffee, hot tea, and iced tea. So, don’t try going in for a free frappe or some crap, that’s not going to happen friends. Essentially, it’s a great way for those who bring their laptops and take up tables for hours to get their money’s worth. If you work remotely (preach), it’s a great way to get the best bang for your buck. Instead of going to a hipster, organically brewed coffee shop that charges you per cup and for their WiFi, go to your local Starbucks and hit up that free refill perk ASAP.
