P!nk Explains The Decision To Raise Her Children Gender-Neutral And It’s Perfect

P!nk has always been a pop star that went against the norm. She was never like Birtney or Christina when we were growing up. She didn’t care to fit into society’s narratives set in “stone” when it came to being a female pop singer. Instead, she took her own path and because of that, her entire career has been a huge success. Recently, P!nk opened up in an interview about raising her two children in a “gender-neutral” household and, it is absolutely amazing.

P!nk, who is married to 42-year-old race driver Carey Hart, said that they do not label her 6-year-old daughter Willow in their house and, in fact, Willow identifies as a boy. Willow even told her parents, “I want to marry an African woman.” P!nk explained to Mirror:

We are a very label-less household. Last week Willow told me she is going to marry an African woman. I was like: ‘Great, can you teach me how to make African food?’ And she’s like: ‘Sure mama, and we are going to live with you while our house is getting ready.’

I was like ‘what the f***, who are you? Who is paying for this by the way?’”

P!nk also explained that the school which she chooses to send Willow has gender-neutral bathrooms, which makes her happy.

I was in a school and the bathroom outside the kindergarten said: ‘Gender Neutral – anybody’, and it was a drawing of many different shapes.

I took a picture of it and I wrote: ‘Progress’. I thought that was awesome. I love that kids are having this conversation.”
