Nickelodeon’s ‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark’ Is Being Made Into A Movie And Twitter Is Losing It

Every ’90s kid knows that the very best shows were all on Nickelodeon. Face it, TV is just not what it used to be when we were kids. Rugrats, Rocket Power, All That – we had some of the best TV shows around. Who can forget the creepy, scary shows that we never wanted to watch alone? Who doesn’t remember “Are You Afraid Of The Dark?” Seriously, I used to never watch that show alone (okay, I’m a baby). But, in all seriousness, when I was a kid that show gave me the creeps. Some of the stories haunted me in my sleep. But, if you were a fan of the hit ’90s show – get excited because it’s coming to Hollywood. (But seriously, it was so creepy, just check out the opening theme song if you don’t believe me).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the TV show is going to be made into a really scary movie. How do we know? Oh, just because the writer of “It” is going to be doing the screenplay. Paramount Players (part of Paramount Pictures) has hired Gary Dauberman to write the script and produce the film. Talk about crazy. If you’ve seen “It,” you already know that the movie is hella scary – so, we can only expect the absolute best from Dauberman.

Dauberman said:

“The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves.

The Midnight Society, in case you forgot, was the group of kids who told the stories around the campfire. But, Twitter clearly hasn’t forgotten about it.
