With more and more victims gaining courage in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal, more victims are beginning to speak out against the disgusting, dark culture that overshadows Hollywood. The saddest and scariest part is that many very influential people seem to have known this was going on for years. Almost none of them have spoken up before now. One of the newest heavy hitting Hollywood names to be accused of sexual assault is Kevin Spacey. On Tuesday, Netflix announced that House of Cards Season 6 production is suspended. This comes following the claims against the show’s lead actor Kevin Spacey.

The two production companies Netflix and Media Rights Capital released the following statement in light of the suspension:
MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew.”
The actual allegations against Spacey came out late last week. Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp claimed Spacey made unwanted sexual advances toward him when he was a minor. Rapp has come forward and said that Spacey allegedly:
invited [him] over to his apartment for a party, and, at the end of the night, picked [him] up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him, making a sexual advance.
Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26 at the time of his claims. Rapp now 46-years-old decided to speak out after all these years. Due to the Harvey Weinstein allegations and all the other victims of sexual abuse inspiring him. Spacey took to Twitter on Sunday to apologize to Rapp, I’m not sure how great the apology was. It was kind of like I don’t remember doing it. Although, it certainly sounds like something I would do, oh well. Also, I’m not sure if using an apology to someone accusing you of sexually assaulting them at a young age is the best platform to come out as gay. Interesting move, Mr. Spacey.
Spacey’s Apology.
On Monday, the companies responsible for producing House Of Cards released a joint statement regarding the allegations and the direction they planned on going with one of Netflix’s original hit shows. Executives plan on meeting to determine the future of the show.
Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.
HoC Spinoffs?
Another bombshell for fans of the show was dropped Monday when they announced that the 6th season would be the shows final season, claiming, the decision to end the show has been the plan for months. Apparently, they claim the shows last season and Kevin Spacey’s allegations are “two separate things.” Seems like convenient timing if you ask me. Strangely enough, Netflix and MRC reported they were planning on creating House of Card’s spin-offs. Their ideas are most likely focusing on Spacey’s right-hand man in the show. Character Doug Stamper who is played by Michael Kelly. They’ve also shared that reportedly two other spin-offs of the popular show that are “being explored.”
Rapp’s accusations against Spacey came to the forefront while Season 6 was being shot in Baltimore. Season 6 wasn’t supposed to be released until sometime later in 2018. House of Cards is Netflix’s first original series and it’s unbelievably successful. There is also no doubt the show’s success has been a direct contributor to Netflix’s wild stranglehold on the entertainment streaming game with about 109 million subscribers. Out of the millions of subscribers, the show has almost a cult following. The fans of House of Cards took to Twitter to express how they feel, many feel Spacey’s character should be killed off but the show should remain. Other fans express how it isn’t fair for the rest of the cast and crew for the show to be ended.
