It’s Barrister Kim Kardashian West, thank you very much.
The reality TV star is planning on taking the California bar exam in 2022, she revealed in her recent Vogue May cover story, along with the fact that she’s been working as an apprentice with a San Francisco–based law firm since last summer.
I’ve dreamed of this moment for so long, many said it would never come. Words cannot begin to express how much of an honor it is to have my first solo US cover of @VogueMagazine. pic.twitter.com/gwiXrdQY3k

I remember as a little girl flipping through my mom’s subscription each month and dreaming of one day gracing the cover of this iconic magazine. Thank you to the incredible Anna Wintour for your support as always, it means the world to me. pic.twitter.com/HNE0sSYUho

“I had to think long and hard about this,” she said, adding that she’s been studying 18 hours a week to prepare to take the exam and juggling her time between filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians, expanding her beauty empire, and spending time with her family.
Special thank you to my husband Kanye for speaking into existence that one day I would grace the cover of Vogue when everyone told me to be “more realistic.” #dreamsdocometrue #speakitintoexistence #voguemagazine pic.twitter.com/63TfbUXWfN

“The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming,” Kardashian West told Vogue. “The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”
Tonne Goodman and Mikael Jansson were an absolute dream. I’m so incredibly grateful to writer @JonnyVanMeter for illustrating a glimpse into my life in a way that hasn’t ever been done-from juggling family, my businesses & pursuing a law degree with such care and seriousness pic.twitter.com/1UbNSpNbi5

Kardashian West was instrumental in the release of Alice Marie Johnson from prison last year, who served 21 years of her life sentence for a non-violent drug charge. In a now-famous meeting with Donald Trump, the reality star successfully convinced the president to commute Johnson’s prison sentence.
Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing. pic.twitter.com/uOy4UJ41JF

“This is the daughter of an accomplished attorney and the mother of three black kids who is using her full power to make a difference on a tough issue and is shockingly good at it,” Jones told Vogue.
Naturally, Twitter came through with the jokes.

Lori Loughlin needs to give Kim Kardashian a call. Can’t be worse than the advice she’s getting from her current legal team. https://t.co/lsSnxlMsso

All jokes aside, there were plenty who felt as though Kardashian West deserved some credit. After all, how many multi-millionaires have freed prisoners from unjust sentences? How many go out of their way to try to reform the prison system?
People: "Kim Kardashian is useless and she doesn't contribute anything to society."
Kim Kardashian: "I'm studying to become a criminal justice lawyer."

Kim Kardashian wants to become a lawyer to reform our criminal justice system.
How many of the people making fun of her have helped free people from unjust prison sentences?
She’s a millionaire.
Instead of sitting back, she’s trying to help people. Give her some credit. https://t.co/nbFIi6rnod— Bhavisha Patel (@BhavishaPatel) April 11, 2019
Hey, good for Kim Kardashian. If she can hack legal training w/o law school, just by reading, then more power to her. It'll be hard, but it'd be a mistake to underestimate the intelligence of a woman who made herself a multimillionaire and A-list celeb by sheer force of will.

And going further than that: if folks have time to drag Kim Kardashian for, of all things, expressing a personal goal of becoming a lawyer, maybe it's time they sit down and reevaluate their priorities. What a weird hill to plant your flag.

Kim Kardashian is studying to become a lawyer? Wow honestly didn't expect that, but given who her father was and her slight interest in prison reform, it's not too surprising. If she's serious about this then s/o to her I can fw that.

“It’s never one person who gets things done,” said Kardashian West. “It’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society.”
California is one of four states that allows alternate methods to take the bar exam besides attending law school.
More like…Kim Kardashian Wesquire.
