While the final season of “Game of Thrones” won’t hit HBO until 2019, the cast and crew are already way deep into filming the very last hurrah of our favorite characters from Westeros.
Producers, directors, and show-runners have been rather clever when it comes to filming. In fact, many of the cast members have said that they’ve been shooting multiple “endings” to the finale of Game of Thrones–just so they won’t know which is the real ending. Basically, they’re as clueless as we are. But, reports have indicated that the final season has been the most expensive season thus far, which clearly means we’re in for a wild ride.
Emilia Clarke graced the cover of this month’s Vanity Fair and opened up about playing the Mother of Dragons for nearly a decade, and how she feels now that the epic show is coming to an end.
Talking about the ending of her beloved character, Daenerys Targaryen, she’s a bit sad but also excited for what lies ahead. Being the same character for so many years on such a popular show can be defeating to many actors–as their characters often define their entire career. But, Clarke has already lined up a monumental role post-GoT–starring in the latest Star Wars film “Solo,” as Qi’ra, Han Solo’s childhood friend. Her character, according to the films Director, is absolutely nothing like the Mother of Dragons.
But, as she says goodbye to her once-in-a-lifetime role, Clarke says she’s already shot the final scenes for Daenerys, and, she’s in awe.
There’s still a lot of filming and post-production work to be done, but Clarke has already shot her character’s final on-screen moments. “It fucked me up,” she says. “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is . . .”
She also added the writers had her “doing all this weird sh*t.”
Obviously, now, as a GoT fan, I’m freaking out. What could be so mindblowing that it even f*cks up Clarke?!? This, I have to see. And, I really don’t want to wait an entire year to see it. *sigh*
