As teenagers, we always wondered what it was like to officially “adult.” We just simply couldn’t wait to do what we wanted, get what we wanted, and be what we wanted without having someone hovering over us telling us what to do and what not to do. Freedom was a craving, independence was a desire. Little did we know that all of the good things in life almost always come with a price and in this case, it’s student loans, credit card debts, rent, groceries, and full on responsibilities to keep ourselves alive. Now we look back and realize just how lucky we were to not have to deal with all those pesky duties. But of course, you live and you grow and soon the next batch of unappreciative teens bloom and we can’t wait to knock some sense into them and answer their dumbfounded questions.
Do things really get better or is it just something adults say. I really need things to get better.
rall4reddit: Things get better but a different better. You become your own person.Conversely life can still be real shitty.
Surround yourself with people who love you and prioritise you. Many people will let you down, they won’t.
How did you know what the hell you wanted to do when you left school?
yawningdogge: I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew I had to do something. I knew that sitting on the couch, eating cereal, and watching cartoons was only going to make life a lot worse.
Does it get more lonely as you grow older?
Trips-Over-Tail: You will come to value those scant few moments of loneliness, and regularly fantasise about thinning the herd considerably just for more time by yourself.
