When we share things on Facebook (or other social media platforms) we often forget that just about anyone could end up seeing it. Just because someone doesn’t “follow us” or is our “friend” on a specific social media outlet, doesn’t mean they won’t get their hands on something that’s wildly inappropriate or just shouldn’t be shared on social media – like for example, our moms. So many times when I was younger, I was tagged in a photo on Facebook when I was somewhere I shouldn’t be and got in big trouble. But with politics being the way that they are now and people taking to social media to share their “views,” some moms find out the hard way that their kids are – well, sexist.
One mother discovered that her son shared a really sexist and awful meme to the Facebook page “Meninist” and was severely disappointed and unhappy.
Well, yeah, if my son were sharing things like this to a Facebook page, I’d probably hit him with a book – a hardcover book. But, this mom decided that public shame was the best way to deal with her sexist and really rude son. She decided to comment on the post once she saw it appear on her timeline. And – the brutal takedown was not only well executed but, also, well deserved.
