Back in August, everyone’s mom and dad Anna Faris and Chris Pratt decided to call it quits after 10 years of marriage. As is normal with celebrity splits, social media thrashed and wailed on behalf of the beautiful, super funny, and seemingly perfect couple.
Those curious to know the juicy deets are in for a treat, because Faris’ autobiography Unqualified will be out later this month. It is part memoir, part relationship advice, and all hilarious. It features a six-page prologue by Pratt, who calls Unqualified “a face-first dive into the mind and person that I spent one amazing decade with.” Faris dedicated the memoir to him and in the acknowledgments calls Pratt “the best person I know.”
In a newly released clip, Faris reveals how she fell in love/lust with Pratt during the filming of Take Me Home Tonight (hey, could’ve just as easily been Topher Grace). At that point she had already realized her three-year marriage to actor Ben Indra was not going to work out because neither of them “were happy in the relationship” which was fraught with “many red flags.”
(I was curious about Ben Indra too. You probably have not seen anything he’s been in. He recieved almost a million dollar settlement after his divorce with Faris. Oh, and one of the biggest reasons their relationship began to flounder was because Faris’ career was taking off in a huge way (we’re talking mid-aughts) and Indra’s was dead in the water. “That kind of destroyed my marriage. The divide became too great,” she later said in an interview with Marie Claire, which also happens to be one of the reasons she and Chris split, too! Oh how things come full circle. Oh how fickle Hollywood can be! ANYWAY.)
Faris said Pratt was hooking up with “background actresses” at the time and she admits this made her “incredibly jealous.” Then Topher Grace at one point said to her “Anna, what the f**k are you doing with that guy?” SO Eric Forman. She describes the epiphany as “such a wonderful cold splash of water in the face,” and after finding herself at Pratt’s apartment one night she “couldn’t deny that something was happening between us.’
At this point Faris knew the marriage was over, and said so to her friend, who encouraged her “to be a surgeon with a scalpel about it” and to “do it immediately and effectively.” So she called him and broke up with him over the phone. Savage! Except he didn’t get the message and she had to tell him repeatedly that she was leaving him. “You’re just tired; you’re really tired,” was his initial reaction.
Faris adds that she then “went to set and was like, ‘Hey, everybody! I just left my husband.’ Pretty soon I was knocking on Chris’s door and was basically like, ‘Hi, I’m ready to get boned.'”
HI I’M READY TO GET BONED!
She then added that the two got “hot and heavy in a way that I’d never experienced before.” And while it was important to Faris not to cheat on Indra (and she didn’t!) she still doesn’t consider herself “completely innocent.”
“Sure, I get to proclaim I didn’t f**k Chris before I left Ben, but what is there to celebrate in that? It didn’t make me a hero. After all, I wanted to. Desperately. And I had feelings for him obviously even if I wasn’t honest with myself about what those were.”
So, there you have it. True love is dead. Happy Tuesday!
