Instagram Model Trades Nudes For Donations To Fight Australian Wildfires, Raises $700k

This is brilliant. As you may know, Australia has been ravaged by unprecedented wildfires in recent days, which have resulted in 25 deaths and untold damage to property, animal species, and the environment. It’s a truly hellish scenario and for those watching the disaster unfold from afar it can feel like there’s nothing one can do to help.

But where there’s a will, there’s a way.

In an effort to help fight the brush fires, nude model and Twitter user @lilearthangelk, aka “The Naked Philanthropist,”  has changed the charity game and all it took was an idea and some racy photos.

After @lilearthangelk (whose real name is Kaylen Ward) announced in a tweet that she would DM anyone who donated to help combat the fires a nude photo if they sent her confirmation of their donation of $10.00 or more, all hell broke loose.

Charity nudes are a novel idea and it quickly caught fire among the horny and generous alike, being shared tens of thousands of times.

After quickly raising $5,000 for charity, however, interest in the project continued to, uh, grow.

And grow…

Until it became fully engorged (for a good cause).

According to Ward her immodest proposal has now raised a staggering $700,000 and counting to fight the wildfires.

According to BuzzFeed, the response has been so enormous that Ward has had to hire a team of four people to sift through the thousands of DMs she’s receiving and respond. It’s amazing what an innovative idea and some naked pictures can do.

In what can only be described as a terrible PR move Instagram has since deactivated Ward’s account for violating its rules about posting “sexually suggestive content.”

Let’s hope she’s reinstated soon so she can keep saving the world, one nude at a time.
