Surprising fact number 1: Good Charlotte was the musical guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Friday night. Surprising fact number 2: Dr. Phil joined them onstage.
TV’s favorite mustachioed, mononymic therapist joined Joel and Benji Madden onstage for a rendition of their 2002 single, “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” In the original video, Joel, Benji, and the rest of the band wear black suits and skinny ties.
Dr. Phil (full name Phil McGraw) wore a decidedly different outfit, walking out onstage in a shredded, studded denim vest, eye makeup, and a full sleeve of (presumably fake) tattoos.

McGraw tweeted a photo of himself with the band, with the caption, “I’m here to rock this bitch!”
Twitter responded by freaking out at the unexpected union of these two early-2000s icons.

I can honestly say I could’ve never predicted that Dr Phil and good Charlotte would ever be a combination under any circumstance but ESPECIALLY not like this https://t.co/mjLszLGXEc

I'm sure there's a German word for the specific discomfort I feel toward that Dr. Phil/Good Charlotte thing, but it hasn't come up on Duolingo yet so I don't know what it is.

So how did this most unholy of unions come about? Well, it was part of a sketch on the late-night show, in which Corden played a “renowned music performance enhancement coach” who suggested the rather strange combination.
Although the supergroup wasn’t exactly a hit (McGraw can’t carry a tune in a bucket), that’s not going to stop Corden—in the sketch, he vowed to continue, so expect even more weird musical combinations in the future.
