Everyone loves that time of year when our skin gets a bit of color and we have that ‘summer glow.’ While everyone looks good with a tan, it’s not healthy or good for you to lay out in the sun for too long–and, we all know tanning beds are even worse for you. Seeing as skin cancer is a huge risk, companies have tried to come up with self-tanners and products that can give you the perfect glow without the risk. While self-tanning lotions have been on the market for years, there’s now a new way to get your tan on this year–by eating gummy bears.
Now, it sounds pretty ideal–who doesn’t love gummy bears, right?

Company UTAN & Tone came up with the idea for a supplement that will give you your tan from the “inside out.” According to the company:
The world’s first edible tan supplements developed by healthcare experts using tried & tested, traditional vegan ingredients.
Patent Pending Tan Gummies® help to accelerate & enhance the perfect bronze tone to pale skins, with & without the sun. GMO Free. Gluten Free.
It sounds absolutely perfect…but, how the f*ck do you get tan from eating gummy bears?
Tan Gummies® allow potent actives to be held in the buccal cavity for a considerable time, resulting in ‘direct absorption’ through the membranes in the cheek walls.
More powerful than anything else available on the market today containing a blend of essential plant nutrients: beta-carotene; lycopene; lutein; zeaxanthin & astaxanthin including a range of EFSA approved ingredients: Vit E & Selenium help protect the skin from oxidative stress;
Vit C to help with the formation of collagen in skin; Zinc & Riboflavin for the maintenance of normal skin.
Essentially, the “nutrients” and add-ins are absorbed through your skin (but, inside) and give you a bit of a glow. The company says these are not permanent supplements and should be taken every day for 2-3 weeks until you get your desired color–then, should be cut down drastically.
Seeing as the gummy bears aren’t actual candy and are technically a drug, it’s important to consult your doctor before taking them. The company also warns users to read all active ingredients to avoid an allergic reaction. I’m not sure I’m 100% sold on them, but, if you decide to give them a try–let me know how it works out (ya girl could use a bit of color over here).
