Dating Website Is Redefining The Term DTF For Older Folks

When you hear DTF, what do you usually think of? Probably not something you’d want to say in front of you parents, amiright? Probably a bit of throwback to the times we all watched The Jersey Shore on MTV. Everyone was DTF in their book. After the phrase caught on, people were not about to explain tot heir parents what DTF meant. But, not, your mom and dad may find out on their own (if they’re single). One online dating service is trying to change the way we define DTF and it’s actually kinda romantic.

OkCupid CMO Melissa Hobley tells AdWeek that the brand is trying to add more depth to their image, while also reflecting the issues and passions that people care about (like politics and farmers markets).

“In the current political and social climate, we felt a responsibility and saw an opportunity to play a part in changing the conversation about dating culture and empowering each individual to reclaim the meaning of DTF and make it theirs.

OkCupid, compared to other dating apps, asks users more than numerous questions while setting up a profile and recently launched OkCupid Discovery. This lets users search by passions and interests. Over the past year a “Trump Filter” has been added to the list, to help weed out users with different political views.
