If you caught the Golden Globes last night, you most definitely caught Oprah accepting her Cecil B. DeMille award, and punctuating it with a powerful speech. Her message was to young girls around the country, and it boomed loud and clear: “A new day is on the horizon.”
It elicited admiration and support from many, celebs and plebes alike, at a landmark Golden Globes ceremony which has been the first major awards show to address Hollywood’s rampant sexual harassment and assault problem. Many celebrities dressed in all black, brought gender and racial activists as their dates, and made a point to address the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement in some way last night, whether in speech or dress.
Then there was Oprah.
