Rios posted the exchange to Twitter, where it quickly went viral. “Omg thank you for telling me girl but that is not my boyfreind! He has an identical twin brother,” she said, thankingthe well-intentioned Pendley profusely. “That’s his brother in the picture and that’s his gf.”
“But thank you so much girly for tleling me even though it’s not my boyfriend because if It was girllllll”
The tweet racked up over 45,000 retweets and 247,000 likes at the time of writing. Some Twitter responders criticized Pendley’s move, saying she should’ve minded her own business. But the overwhelming majority was like “nah, good looking out.”

Some joked, saying the real plot twist here is that it actually is her boyfriend and he’s cheating on her with his twin brother’s girlfriend, which is funny to think about and also the same place my messed up head went.
Plot twist… It actually is her boyfriend and he’s cheating on her with his brothers girlfriend

Others shared their own, uh, super wild stories.

Pendley told Refinery29 that she was “initially disgusted and I felt sick to my stomach for her,” and decided to tell Rios after talking it out with a roommate and a friend. Rios was with her boyfriend when she got the message and they both “burst of laughing,” but she did appreciate that someone tried to stick up for her despite not really knowing her.
“After she told me that, I felt like I could trust her even though I didn’t know her, just because she had my back,” she said. Best part of all? Pendley and Rios actually did become friends after all this went down and have been Snapchatting daily, with plans to hang out in 2018.
