Harvey Is On His Own.
The Weinstein Co. – run by Harvey and his brother Bob – have officially fired Harvey. That comes along with news his very successful wife, Georgina Chapman, has left him, Chapman is also the mother of his two children. Most recently the film academy which is comprised of 54 members, 21 which are female (sucks to suck Harvey) has come out and publicly denounced Harvey Weinstein.
On Wednesday the academy publically released a statement referring to Weinstein’s alleged actions as “Repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the Academy and the creative community it represents.”
This coming Saturday their board will have a meeting to determine the status of Weinstein’s membership. Not nearly harsh enough if you ask me. It also gets me thinking is this the overall culture in Hollywood? How well known were this mans unforgivable actions throughout the years?
To further add to the demise of this sexual predator, The USC School of Cinematic Arts will be rejecting Weinstein’s $5 million donations. The British Academy of Film and Television have suspended his membership to their organization, his Democratic political affiliates have severed ties with him – when former President Obama along with Hillary Clinton publically denounced him.
Keep Talking About It.
Obama hit the nail on the head when he said:
Any man who demeans and degrade women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status.
(God, I miss you).
It is good to see more woman step forward and bravely speak up against their attackers. Bringing light to how devalued and disrespected woman can be in all professions will change the conversation when it comes to situations like these. Hopefully, more people will be paying attention to this horrific truth that woman have to deal with. I also hope Harvey Weinstein finds himself in a very long uncomfortable stay in a jail cell, where that animal belongs.
