We live in a very fast-paced world, so the importance of self-care is higher than ever. Not only are we discussing mental health more openly, but we’re also discovering new ways to handle anxiety and manage stress. Life takes a toll on the mind, body, and spirit. If you’re feeling physically, emotionally or mentally stressed out, it might be time to find ways to practice some self-care to alleviate the impending breakdown before things get worse. Everyone is unique. What works for one person, will not necessarily work for another and that’s okay. So here are a few methods to practice self-care that isn’t yoga.
If you’re mentally stressed out:
1. An Adult Coloring Book:
It seems a little childish at first, but after a while the mindlessness becomes soothing. There’s also something to be said about the gratification from completing some of those complex and intricate illustrations.

2. Journaling:
There are endless benefits to putting thoughts, worries, and ideas down on paper. You can choose to reflect on them again in the future, or leave negativity tucked away between sheets of paper in the past. Bullet journals are very popular at the moment.

3. Get Lost in a Book:
Who doesn’t love binging on Netflix? But sometimes it’s okay to take a step away from the familiar re-runs. Take a dive into a new world of romance, adventure, mystery or horror and get lost between the pages of a book. Reading is a great way to find a new perspective and spark creativity which can be especially helpful if you’re dealing with stress at work.
