Diddy Accused Of Being Fatphobic For Telling Lizzo To Stop Twerking On IG Live

While dancing with his family on Easter on Instagram Live, Diddy had Lizzo join in the fun. The crew was getting moving and having a blast—until Lizzo started twerking while Money Bagg Yo’s song “1-2-3” played in the background.

Suddenly, Diddy told Lizzo “Whoa, whoa, whoa! It’s Easter Sunday, let’s play something a little more family friendly.”

Poor Lizzo profusely apologizes on camera and looks embarrassed. Clearly, she thinks she did something wrong.

Diddy apparently wanted to keep dancing on Instagram all Easter long because he later invited Draya Michele to join him and his family while “Back That Azz Up” plays in the background.

And, like Lizzo, Draya started twerking—but Diddy didn’t tell her to be more “family friendly.”

These episodes caused social media users to wonder if Diddy was being fatphobic because he stopped Lizzo from dancing and not Draya.

“Lizzo started twerking on Diddy’s IG live & Diddy talking bout stop its Easter Sunday but Draya twerks on that same live & there are no issues. Y’all can’t even hide yall disdain for fat women & I hate it,” said one Twitter user.

“Diddy owe Lizzo an apology for body shaming her on live when she was trying to twerk because when Draya was twerking then he was ok with it,” another user said.

A lot of folks criticized Diddy for his apparent hypocrisy, so the rapper tried to explain himself:

“There’s one thing I want to make clear. My queen, my sister Lizzo when I stopped the music it’s because it had a lot of curses in there. Not because she was twerking. She’s one of the best twerkers in the world. OK, let’s keep that clear,” he said.

“It wasn’t about twerking, you’re allowed to twerk on Easter. It was about, it was a lot cursing in the record, and I don’t need child services knocking on my door right now. You understand. That’s why we stopped the record. Lizzo we love you. Everybody stop looking for the negative.”

Whether or not it was the music, this controversy has made it abundantly clear that a lot of people out there are unapologetically fatphobic and find it offensive when a woman of size dances. So, you folks need to work on that.
