When it comes to dating app and social media, you never know who you’re going to cross paths with. Sometimes, people online can be absolute creeps. Other times, they are just awkward and looking for love. But, when talking to complete strangers, you never know who they could end up being.
Recently, Twitter user Samantha spotted a contestant on the newest season of The Bachelorette as someone who had tried asking her out months ago. After putting the two together, she decided to share screenshots of their conversation (or, the one-way conversation) on Twitter, trying to expose him for being “weird.”
The text messages aren’t creepy, nor are they alarming or strange. In fact, Ryan just seems like an honest guy who’s a bit socially awkward and strange, looking for love—which is probably how he ended up on The Bachelorette in the first place.
Samantha positioned the tweet as if there’s something wrong with Ryan—wishing Hannah “uh good luck.” But, people online totally disagreed with Samantha—saying that he was actually being kind of sweet and just a bit awkward.
When you measure this up against the worst of the bachelorette contestants then this guy is a f*cking gem.— Ashley Spivey (@AshleySpivey) May 14, 2019
I kinda liked it— Sabrina Ingram ? (@ShesWritingMore) May 14, 2019
Was this really that bad? I mean it's cheesy but isn't that about the worst you could say about it?— bow-piuooo ?️ (@bowlingotter) May 14, 2019
Putting this dude on crazy blast. Wow
I actually thought this was clever and pretty awesome.— Kat ? (@Katlynn_Alexis) May 14, 2019
High key thought this was funny, cute, and sweet— Scar (@Scar_Mcm13) May 14, 2019
Honestly, this is cute. Not creepy IMO.— Meg ? (@meghowll) May 14, 2019
wait but this is so cute, he’s so nice to you!!! but if you think it was weird based on the vibes when you met him then i get it— ????????? ★·.·´¯`·.·★ (@thomasjeferstan) May 14, 2019
Apparently I’m the only one that thought this was sweet and a creative way to ask someone out.— linsey (@LinseyBarner) May 14, 2019
What am I missing? I thought this was a nice way to ask for a date.— Sherry Saunders (@Sharon6227) May 14, 2019
Another person pointed out that this girl was just looking for the clout and popularity on social media, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way in which Ryan asked her out.
Let’s be real here. There’s no reason you needed to put him on blast. I thought this was a funny and cute way to ask a girl out. It’s not like he said “let’s hook up” or something inappropriate, like most would. You’re just hungry for fame, and desperation isn’t cute. ?— McKenzie Dumas (@TheeMac_Daddy) May 14, 2019
Another said this is exactly why men don’t ask women out nicely anymore—this is what you get: exposed on social media.
This is what happens, guy is genuine (although maybe a bit cheesy) and he gets put on blast. Maybe this is why men are not as romantic as they would like to be.— Greg Moore (@gmoore113) May 14, 2019
Clearly, this girl is going to end up with a real winner if she thinks this is bad.
