When it comes to dating app and social media, you never know who you’re going to cross paths with. Sometimes, people online can be absolute creeps. Other times, they are just awkward and looking for love. But, when talking to complete strangers, you never know who they could end up being.
Recently, Twitter user Samantha spotted a contestant on the newest season of The Bachelorette as someone who had tried asking her out months ago. After putting the two together, she decided to share screenshots of their conversation (or, the one-way conversation) on Twitter, trying to expose him for being “weird.”
met this guy a couple months ago who asked me out in the weirdest way… turns out he’s a contestant on #TheBachelorette tonight so uh good luck Hannah #RollerBoyRyan pic.twitter.com/ZiXyhpTlva

The text messages aren’t creepy, nor are they alarming or strange. In fact, Ryan just seems like an honest guy who’s a bit socially awkward and strange, looking for love—which is probably how he ended up on The Bachelorette in the first place.
Samantha positioned the tweet as if there’s something wrong with Ryan—wishing Hannah “uh good luck.” But, people online totally disagreed with Samantha—saying that he was actually being kind of sweet and just a bit awkward.

Was this really that bad? I mean it's cheesy but isn't that about the worst you could say about it?
Putting this dude on crazy blast. Wow

What am I missing? I thought this was a nice way to ask for a date.

Another person pointed out that this girl was just looking for the clout and popularity on social media, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way in which Ryan asked her out.

Another said this is exactly why men don’t ask women out nicely anymore—this is what you get: exposed on social media.
This is what happens, guy is genuine (although maybe a bit cheesy) and he gets put on blast. Maybe this is why men are not as romantic as they would like to be.

Clearly, this girl is going to end up with a real winner if she thinks this is bad.
