VR Company Studies Porn Psychology

Virtual Reality is the hottest thing in digital media right now. The Oculus Rift, Playstation VR system, and Samsung VR are just a few of the major products out there trying to capture the market for VR headsets. Even products like Google Cardboard have made it possible for us to turn our smartphones into a VR headset setup.

Google Cardboard entrance into the mobile VR space is a logical one. We watch a lot of media on our cellphones, so it shouldn’t be too big of a surprise that VR has made its way there with ease. Porn is one heavily consumed via mobile, so it should be even less surprising that VR has made its way into porn.

Nearly all the mainstream porn providers have begun carrying VR porn videos as part of their offering, and some of them even offer a headset with a $30 subscription. Naughty America, Wankz, and BadoinkVR are just a few of the names that are excelling in making engaging VR porn videos.

But what are the psychological effects of these VR videos?

BaDoinkVR and Neurons aimed to answer that question by studying a group of men with an average age of 27. The details of their study are covered in an article recently produced by our friends at the Daily Dot.

More From The Daily Dot:

Subjects in the study were taken to a private room and asked to watch an eight-minute VR porn video. They were instructed not to masturbate. As the video went through different sexual actions in virtual reality, their brain waves were measured, and ratings were given to aspects of cognitive load, arousal, and motivation.
