In a time when women are taking the spotlight in the media for being brave, openminded, and powerful–Maroon 5 and Cardi B dropped a new music video that celebrates the “powerful woman.”
The song–”Girls Like You”–speaks of an amazing woman, and although it’s not a super “female empowerment” kind of song, the music video tells otherwise. Adam Levine belts out lyrics about a guy and girl with a pretty up and down relationship. But, the music video features women who stand for powerful, important, and moving messages and causes.
Some of the powerful women who start off the rotation of women are Camila Cabello, Pheobe Robinson, Olympian Aly Raisman, comedian Sarah Silverman, Actress Gal Gadot, YouTuber Lilly Singh, Muslim Women’s Day Founder Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, “Transparent” actress Trace Lysette, comedian Tiffany Haddish, immigration activist Any Rivera, social justice warrior Franchesca Ramsey, actress Millie Bobby Brown, comedian Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Olympian Chloe Kim, soccer player Alex Morgan, Mary J. Blige, Beanie Feldstein, activist Jackie Fielder, race car legend Danica Patrick, first-elected Somali-American lawmaker Ilhan Omar, Elizabeth Banks, Ashley Graham, and Rita Ora.
All of these women have stood for, represented, and spoke out about important issues in the media spotlight and used their platform for education and change. That’s what makes this music video so powerful. Cardi B, of course, is featured rapping her dope verse. And, the music video ends with Levine and a heartwarming moment with him, his wife Behati Prinsloo, and their daughter Dusty Rose (seriously, what a tear-jerking moment).
Fans absolutely love it.

Between #ChildishGambino's #ThisIsAmerica and this #Maroon5's #GirlsLikeYou it's been a great time for music videos with a message. It celebrates powerful women in acting, comedy, sports, music, and social advocacy. https://t.co/gdNQvQ6wsv

@iamcardib I literally hollered when you started your verse in the girls like you music video. You absolutely did that WHILE pregnant and in the process of making an album. You are such an incredible influence for teen girls like me and I cannot wait to see where you go next🤩<3
