Many people know Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes from the CW hit TV show “Riverdale.” The two are best friends both on-screen and off-screen. While the show has picked up tremendous success, more magazines and media outlets have been requesting the stars for interviews and photo shoots, often times giving them the cover for big publications with a large audience.
Recently, the two girls were featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine and looked absolutely amazing. Let’s be real–these two ladies are stunning. Landing a spot in Cosmo is a huge deal for many celebrities, as it’s a strong publication that is read by people all over the world.
Cosmopolitan Philippines, being affiliated directly with the American edition of Cosmo, decided to share some of the photos from their photo shoot and spread in the February edition. However, there was one major difference between the photos taken and the photos shared–they were completely photoshopped. Reinhart took to Instagram and shared the photos on her story, comparing the originals to the edited photos and having some pretty harsh words.
She showed the before and after photos from the original shoot, and then how Cosmo Philippines had altered her waist and Camila’s, as well.
Reinhart shared some pretty strong words, as well, calling the publication out.
Camila Mendes also spoke out on Instagram against the decision to photoshop their bodies.
It’s sad to see that even women who work very hard to stay healthy and maintain their figure are still viewed as “not good enough.” It’s not only a poor message to send to both Lili and Camila, but a poor message to send to girls everywhere–telling them that they are not good enough and “need to be photoshopped.” It’s a damn shame, and shouldn’t happen. Do better.
