David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have announced they will be writing the next saga of ‘Star Wars’ films. Now, this is extremely exciting seeing as how awesome these two were able to make George R.R. Martin’s books come to life on television. There hasn’t been a ton of specifics released about the films but we do know a few things like these two will be at the helm of a brand new saga that’s separate from anything from the original movies. They get the opportunity to create a whole new adventure which is extremely exciting. This new spin-off of the ‘Star Wars’ brand has the opportunity to be completely unique. These movies will go won’t be related to Rian Johnson’s ‘Last Jedi’ trilogy either which may scare some fans a bit but I have faith in the boys. They have rarely disappointed when it’s come to ‘Game of Thrones.’
“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
There’s going to be a ton of time to kill before Game of Thrones Season 8 is here so don’t get too excited about the movies yet. There is plenty of ‘Star Wars’ coming out before then to hold you all over. We have ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ opening May 25th and untitled Episode XI in December of 2019 but Episode XI will have J.J. Abraham taking over as director after Colin Trevorrow had left the position. Being a huge fan of ‘Game of Thrones’ I feel like the next step in the ever-expanding ‘Star Wars’ universe is in good hands but Twitter seems to have mixed feelings.
