As everybody knows Matt Lauer was formerly one of NBC’s biggest stars. That was until he was fired in November after a myriad of allegations were brought up against him. These allegations ranged from sexual harassment to sexual assault. It’s been almost two months and Lauer’s former co-star Katie Couric is finally ready to speak out about the situation. Although Couric did briefly comment on Lauer when being confronted by a follower on Instagram, this is the first time she’s speaking at length about her ex-colleague. About a month ago when she was called out by a follower on Instagram, she took the time to respond.
“It’s incredibly upsetting, and I will say something when I’m ready to. Thanks for your interest,”

Now that’s not an in-depth reaction to the sexual assault allegations against someone she’s worked so closely with for over 15 years. In her interview with People, she finally felt ready to comment on Lauer’s behavior and the nature of their relationship. She refers to Matt as almost like her brother and that he never treated her in any way other than professionally. She goes on to explain how kind, generous, and respectful her former colleague was towards her.
“I had no idea this was going on during my tenure or after I left. I think I speak for many of my former colleagues when I say this was not the Matt we knew. Matt was a kind and generous colleague who treated me with respect.
