Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Kelly Clarkson Spanking Her 3-Year-Old Daughter

Kelly Clarkson decided to share with the public the way she disciplines her 3-year-old daughter and is now receiving a ton of backlash. During a recent interview, the 35-year-old singing mother decided to stand by her disciplinary decisions when it comes to her children Remy, 1 and River, 3. During an interview with a radio station in Rochester Clarkson decided to try and set the record straight about the way she chooses to raise her children.

“I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into, and I don’t mean like hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking. My parents spanked me and I did fine in life and I feel fine about it.”

Kelly Clarkson openly admits that she’s aware that her parenting tactics aren’t for everybody but that certainly doesn’t mean she is going to succumb to public pressure and change how she is raising her children. Clarkson goes on to share a little bit about how it was like for her growing up in Texas.

I’m from the South, ‘ya’ll, so we get spankings. My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal’s office and give permission for her to spank me . . . I’m a well-rounded individual with a lot of character, so I think it’s fine.”

I’m no parent but I agree with Kelly Clarkson, there is a big difference between physically abusing and beating your children and a discipling your child. Kelly goes on to make a point I fully agree with, I mean my parents did it to me and I think I turned out half decent.

“I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on the bottom if you don’t stop right now, this is ridiculous,’ and honestly it’s really helped. She doesn’t do that kind of stuff as often.”

Which seems pretty logical to me, I never understood the begging and pleading with a small child to stop like they were all of a sudden going to snap into behaving.
