When it comes to beauty and hair-care, a lot of the products on the market are pretty expensive. When you want to give your body, face, and hair some TLC, many of us will try to find drugstore replicas of expensive products because we don’t want to break the bank. Sometimes, drugstore items work just as well as high-priced items from expensive retail stores. Other times, not so much. One YouTuber is sharing a horrifying story of how she bought a drugstore label hair relaxer for her colored hair and ended up losing all of her hair in the process.
Hannah Forcier used to be a girl with medium-length blonde hair. She often posted videos to her YouTube channel about her hair and makeup routines, as well as beauty Q&A’s. But, one day, Forcier decided to buy a hair relaxer from a drug store and her entire world changed.

She posted this photo on her Instagram page, explaining that after using the hair relaxer, her hair fell out in the shower – all of it. She wrote:
It was Tuesday October 10th at 3:30pm when my world changed. I went from this bubbly, fun bleach blonde to a timid, self loathing broken girl. I didn’t feel like me anymore, which is hard for some people to understand. When I posted my video I was afraid but everyone responded with such love it made me realize how lucky I am to have you, all of you, in my life. I am feeling more confident by the day. Thank you ❤️ I wanted to give a special thanks to everyone at @vanity.bystacygodwin ? thank you my beautiful love @outcastcity who shaved his head last night so I wouldn’t feel alone, I can’t tell you how much that meant to me❤️ Thank you to my family and thank you to my best friend @danarosee I don’t know what I’d do without you?

Forcier explained in a painful and teary-eyed YouTube video that she purchased the hair relaxer and decided to use it because her hair was damaged from bleaching it blonde and also using heat products on it frequently. She didn’t realize that her hair was in a fragile state already – when you bleach your hair, it becomes very, very weak. She used the product for the required amount of time and when she went into the shower to wash it out, she felt “clumps” of her hair coming out in her hands. She said she could actually feel her hair falling out, running down her back and hitting the shower floor. After she got out of the shower, most of her hair was gone.
While going through a major change like that – especially for a beauty and hair blogger/vlogger – can be traumatizing and scary, Forcier has been embracing her new look and become somewhat of an inspiration for girls who follow her.

It just goes to show you that when you use products, you should look up reviews online and see what kind of hair they work best on. Sometimes, certain products are too harsh or the chemicals are too severe for certain types of hair. But, others are made specifically for damaged hair. Reading reviews or even asking professional hair stylists and experts is the best way to avoid a scary situation like this.
