I Tried LUSH’s ‘Sleepy Body Lotion’ And Here’s Why You Need To Buy It ASAP

I’ve never been a fan of buying expensive beauty or cosmetic products – even lotions and perfumes – because I’m cheap and I like spending my money on food (going out to eat is expensive, as is food shopping). I’m also really bad at doing hair and makeup and anything like that, so I stick to drug-store products seeing as I’ll never be able to make a good winged eyeliner or a perfect cat eye. I also have really sensitive skin and pretty bad eczema, so I never really trust expensive products because they’re not usually tested on sensitive skin. But, when I read online that people were talking about a LUSH product that helps put you to sleep faster, I was intrigued.

I’ve never been inside of a LUSH store. I’ve heard about their bath bombs and their soap products. My ex-boyfriend’s little sister was obsessed with the store and their products, but, like I said, I hate spending money on stuff like that. But, I also have a hard time falling asleep at night. My mind works on over-drive. I have high-functioning anxiety, so I find myself being the happiest, most productive and normal when I’m doing 10 things at once. When I lay down in bed, I’m usually scrolling online looking for new stories for the site or, I’m scrolling through aimless apps like Pinterest or Tumblr. My mind, of course, is always racing. I’ve tried a lot of different products to help me sleep. I’ve tried herbal teas, oil diffusers, lavender oils – anything they have that’s not a drug, I’ve done it. I don’t like using Advil PM’s and other sleeping pills because I know that the body develops dependencies. So, all-natural products are always good for me. So, I ordered myself the LUSH Sleepy Body Lotion and gave it a go.

My first positive comment about this lotion is that it’s pretty inexpensive. It’s only $19.95 on their website – which to me, is a good deal for a good night’s sleep. I did my usual night-time routine – brushing my teeth, flossing, brushing my hair and washing my face. I decided to use the lotion on my arms, legs, feet, and face to give it a maximum effect (I’m extra, okay). I have a weird thing where I hate when my skin feels dry and seeing as though I have eczema, it was good for me to get a bit more moisture on my skin. The lotion smells incredible and it’s a pretty color of purple-y/pink. The lotion includes lavender and vanilla, which are both known to promote relaxation, so it makes sense those are the key ingredients used.

After applying the lotion, I crawled into bed and did what I usually do – scrolled on my phone. Now, it’s not like a sleeping pill or a switch where you’ll fall asleep in 1, 2, 3. Instead, it eases you and relaxes you – making you feel more “blissful” and relaxed, which, will help you fall asleep easier. While it didn’t entirely help me fall asleep super fast, I did sleep through the night the first 3 nights I used it (I usually wake up at least 2-3 times). I drank a cup of herbal tea on top of the lotion some nights, while others, I just used the lotion on its own.

So excited to try sleepy from @lush ??#treatyoself #lushsleepy

Honestly, this product does exactly what it says. LUSH doesn’t promote the product as though it’s as good as a sleeping pill or even a punch in the face to knock your lights out – but, does say that it’ll help “ease your senses” and nerves, allowing you to sleep more peacefully. Does it deliver? Yes. It also made me feel as though I was more “organized” and on top of my health/skin-care routine, which experts say is important when having a good nights sleep. So, if you’re looking for something that’s low-cost and going to help you with those insomnia-filled nights or even your late-night anxiety, I’d recommend this product 10/10 times.
