Aha my family would always say “nigh-nighs” as opposed to “goodnight” which only struck me as weird the first time I said it out loud to my boyfriend at the time when we first moved in together and he gave me this incredulous look.I stood my ground and have managed to get every person I’ve ever lived with to say it now.

Not super weird, but our neighbour thought it was odd. If someone is leaving the house and you are in the living room, you get up from whatever you’re doing and stand at the window and wave to them. Basically if they’ve said goodbye to you, you wave. I think we all feel a bit offended when someone doesn’t. Literally been a thing my whole life. Didn’t realise it wasn’t something everyone did until my teens.

My family tends to eat spaghetti with a side of mash potatos. For a very long time I thought this was normal, until someone pointed it out it was weird. Still good though!

I didn’t realize living in a house full of piles of junk and having to scooch through the hallway between boxes was weird. After a kid pointed out how weird it was, I never invited anyone into my house again.

Dad used a red light bulb at the rear entrance. He thought that regular clear bulbs were “too bright,” whereas the red light didn’t shine through our parents’ nearby bedroom window. It wasn’t until a friend remarked, “Your Dad is running a red light district in the neighborhood” that I thought of it that way.

My family has a long tradition of cooking ‘Christmas Sauce.’Its basically a red sauce full of expensive meat. Our traditional Christmas dinner is baked ziti.

My whole family is left handed so our entire house was oriented for lefties. Apparently it really threw most guests because everything was ‘backwards’ to them.
