Being told that you are your father’s daughter will always speak more volume than it seems. Growing up right by my Dad’s side, I loved nothing more than being his little girl. As I got older, I think I began to take-for-granted all that he does for me. As most kids do, they start to put other people before their family. Parents are such amazing people and literal superheroes for their children. It is so important to always thank them for all that they have done. Life gets so messy and confusing at times, I think that we neglect to thank our parents as adults.
1. Thank you for showing me the importance of working for what you want.
You have always shown me that nothing good in life comes easy, and you have to work hard for what you want. You have taught me to set goals and always have a positive mindset, that is the only way to success. Thank you for not giving me handouts and everything when I asked for it, and instead, allowing me to earn what I want. It’s paid off in the long run.
2. Thank you for teaching me the importance of a homecooked dinner.
Thank you for all the amazing dinners through the years and the turkey on Thanksgiving. I still don’t think I can really cook to save my life, but I am thankful for the experience I have from you. You’ve shown me that there’s nothing more meaningful than cooking for your family and providing for them, too.
3. Thank you for teaching me that I should always follow my dreams.
You have taught me that no dream is too big and that it is so important to always dream so big and expect so much out of yourself. You never told me that my dreams were invalid. You never told me to push my dreams aside for something more “realistic.” You told me I could always be whatever I want to be.
4. Thank you for showing me how to be a fighter.
You have shown me how to fight for what I want, how to fight for what I believe in and how to fight through any struggle life throws at me. You have shown me I can get through anything if I put my mind through it. If it weren’t for you, I’d probably be a pushover. But, now, I hold my ground and always have a backbone.
5. Thank you for teaching me that I should never settle.
You have taught me that there is always something better out there and I should ever settle until I find the best out there for me. In life, this counts in so many ways – dating, jobs, friends. I never settle for less than I deserve because of you.
