5 Of The Most Haunted & Scariest Places To Visit This Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s almost time to get spooky and haunted all of the time. But, just because Halloween only comes once a year doesn’t mean you can’t visit these places any other time of the year. October just makes it better because – well – it’s that time of the year where we all get to experience with ghosts, the dead and all the in between. You are about to discover some of the creepiest places in America to visit, whether it’s Halloween or not.

If that photo doesn’t scare you, maybe visiting some of these places will. Here are some of the scariest places in America that might just make you sh*t your pants. Hopefully, that won’t be the case but – hey you never know (we won’t judge you…a lot).

1. Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (Weston, West Virginia):

As if this picture isn’t creepy enough with how desolate it looks, The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, created in 1864, was home to thousands of people who had mental illnesses and many of those patients died there – so, it’s most likely haunted. The spirits roam the halls of the asylum and these spirits date back all the way to the Civil War era. They officially stopped treating patients in 1994, but visitors are allowed to come experience for themselves on ghost tours that they offer at the asylum. Scary enough for you?

2. Villisca Axe Murder House (Villisca, Iowa):

This house doesn’t look scary but has a terrifying past. The Villisca Axe Murder House was home to a man named Josiah B. Moore who was murdered along with his wife, 4 children, and 2 other girls who were staying overnight. The murderer was never identified. Visitors who come tour the home experience hearing children’s voices, children crying, visions of a man with an ax, and much more unexplained paranormal activity. *shivers*

3. The Myrtles Plantation (St. Francisville, Louisiana):

The Myrtles Plantation, as they say deep in the heart of Voodoo land, is said to believe to be one of the most haunted places in America. Over 12 spirits are known to roam this home, but the most famous one was a former slave named Chloe, who was killed by other slaves due to her supposedly poisoning another house mistress and 2 children. Seriously, this is insane.
