MTV’s new reality TV show is trying to take us back to the 2000’s when we had french tips and bedazzled cell phones. Yeah, I’m talking about the Laguna Beach days, where we all popped the collars on our Hollister polos and rocked chunky blonde highlights in our hair. “Siesta Key” is a look inside the lives of the rich kids of Siesta Key, Florida and – their lives are nothing short of outrageous.
Personally – I watched the first episode of the show and it’s basically a run-down, knock-off version of Laguna Beach/The Hills. The characters on the show have zero personality and it’s pretty blah. Laguna Beach had a culture, there was an entire generation that basically loved it because of what they represented. Sure, they were wealthy, but they weren’t pretentious and obnoxious. These kids – well, they are.
The star of the show, Alex Kompothecras (who’s basically just a rich kid with a wealthy father) is under fire now because of a video that has gone viral online. According to sources, Kompothecras is connected to a video that was filmed on a boat pulling a shark along the ocean water’s – as the shark struggles for his life.

Since the video has gone viral online, people have been slamming the cast of Siesta Key and even sending them death threats. Kompothecras has since spoken out about the video and said:
“I am embarrassed and it won’t happen again.
I’ve made my share of bad decisions and I feel horrible, but all I can say is that I would not make those decisions again. I was being stupid but I’ve grown from that. It’s an eye-opener for me because it’s made me think long and hard about things I’ve done and I’ve learned from that. This has all been a shocking experience.”
But, other cast members on the show have reportedly received death threats from animal right’s activists as well. According to the cast members, the person who was filmed pulling the shark is not on the show and Kompothecras had nothing to do with the video. However, he was pictured force-feeding beer to a fish.
But – now – things have gotten even worse because another video has surfaced online of Kompothecras actually shooting a shark with a gun on his boat. It is, in fact, illegal to shoot sharks in Florida and, since the video has surfaced, Kompothecras could face serious charges.
