On Thursday, one university student returned to his flat only to find it in an abhorrent state.
22-year-old Matt Sterling, a journalism student at the University of the West of England, then did what any person would do and took to Snapchat to chronicle this cataclysm.

Matt was admittedly disgusted, but not surprised.
“It didn’t even shock my [sic] that much, I’ve had to live with it since September,” said Sterling.
According to Sterling, of his four flatmates, one was “lovely” and “no issue;” however, the other three were absolute nightmares. The “Flatmates from Hell” came about when a turn of bad luck found one of Sterling’s original roommates dropping out of university and yet another opting to study abroad.
Both were replaced with two “randomers” — tenants that Sterling had no prior connections to.
The nauseating habits of these two replacements, in turn, began to rub off on a third tenant who Sterling explained was a bit impressionable and “not like this last year.”
Since its posting, the tweet has gone viral, garnering over 3.8 thousand retweets and 6.7 likes. Reactions were a mixed bag of repulsion, amusement, and empathy.
This is one of those rare occasions where forfeiting your deposit will be worth it just so you don't have to deal with cleaning that.

Others went on to express just how much they related to Sterling and shared their own experiences.

A day later, Matt posted another video with updates on his cleaning endeavours.

Ultimately, Matt has this advice for those with awful roommates: “Try sub-letting your room out if you can (although that’s usually illegal), if not, just grit your teeth and count down to moving out day.”
We’ve all been there Matt. We feel for you.
