Instagram is one of those social media platforms that make us all feel pretty bad about ourselves. While we know that most photos are covered in filters, most influencers and bloggers seem to live “perfect lives,” where they look, feel, and appear amazing (and, always have a photographer following them around).
As it turns out, the “everyday activities” they like to portray as glamorous and perfect are actually not-so-perfect. One German artist, Geraldine West, has created a photo series on her own Instagram showcasing just how fake and phony influencers can be online. So, quit feeling sorry for yourself, and the fact that you don’t have your own personal photographer, and laugh at the bullsh*t that is your Insta-feed.
Shopping is not all name-brands and high fashion.
Traveling is never this put together.
Only aliens don’t sweat in yoga class.
Why are you in a laundry mat if you’re not doing laundry?
Showers and baths are for…cleaning.
Who really enjoys salad THAT much?
Big mood.
No one has time to sit in a bathrobe and do their makeup for hours when we have rush-hour to get through.
All in all, it’s a great way to truly realize that those people who make us feel inherently bad about ourselves are “faking” a lot of their lives. Just remember the next time you’re scrolling through the ‘Gram and feel pretty awful–it’s all a facade.
