Many of us grew up right alongside the cast of Boy Meets World, which is strange because when I look in the mirror, I haven’t aged at all? A paradox. In some photos, it seemed like neither have Ben Savage or Danielle Fishel. Those two are going to be young and in love forever. In my mind.
Fans might find it difficult to confront the aging process, but no one following the show’s leads can avoid it entirely. The crew reunites still and did so most recently at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con. Fishel shared a photo of their famous promotional photo, featuring Savage, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle side-by-side with the group recreating the picture as their 30-something selves. Honestly, they’re just as cute:
I’d also probably recognize any of them on the street with the possible exception of Friedle? But he’d be the first to admit he doesn’t look quite like he did in the nineties:
Since the whole group was there, they took the opportunity to take lots of photos, which are sprinkled across their various Instagram accounts. It’s a real nostalgia bonanza and frankly, it’s making me a little emotional. Look at this:
Though by Day 2, the connection had cooled. There weren’t any smartphones in 1998. If there had been, we might have more pictures like this:
But also fewer real-life connections worth documenting. That actually makes me anxious about future nostalgia!
Luckily, we have fans to make things more fun than celebrities have time for, like this guy who cosplayed as a book about Mr. Feeny:
Yes, it’s the fans who really have me in my feelings. They’re so devoted, even after 20 years. The boy is meeting the world, and the world is an obsessed fandom that keeps his legacy alive. Dang, that’s deep.
