Between physical copies, digital downloads, and frequent airings on TV, its easy for fans to watch and rewatch theHarry Potterfilms. But soon, fans can finally go back to Hogwarts the way many of them first experienced it.
Cinemarkannouncedthat its bringing all eightHarry Pottermovies (plusFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) to Cinemark XD theaters from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 for Wizarding World XD Week. Although the week-long festival falls during the anniversary of the Hogwarts Express annual journey from Kings Cross Station to Hogwarts, its likely geared more toward getting fans excited for the upcoming release ofFantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
For those unfamiliar with XD, its an immersive movie experience thatincludesa screen large enough to stretch across walls, a state-of-the-art projector capable of 35 trillion colors, and custom surround sound.
Fortunately, you wont need to gather too many galleons for this endeavor. For $25 (plus sales tax), you can purchase a pass to see all nine films included in the lineup and receive a keychain, a cup you can use for refills until Nov. 30, and a badge. But if you only want to see a handful of films or just one, theyre only $5 apiece.
For some fans, attending Wizarding World XD Week wont be easy. Tickets are limited, but the location will be another big factor. There are only 141 Cinemark XD theaters in the U.S., andsome states that have a limited number of theatersdont have any suited for XD. (For example, there is only one Cinemark theater in New Yorkin Rochesterand it doesnt feature XD.) But for those who can get there, it could be something magical: Living and reliving the experience of seeingHarry Potterin a theater isnt the kind of thing you can just conjure up.
