Women Everywhere Are Sharing This Hack For When Creepy Dudes Ask For Your Phone Number

Every single woman in the world has been forced to repeatedly fend off advances from men, oftentimes continuously and with a decreasingly patient tone of voice. Flat-out rudeness is often discouraged, as angering an already belligerent man can result in bodily harm. Yay feminism! (***Waits as comments from men flood in, half cyber-shouting “not all men!” and the other half insisting “this happens to dudes too!”***)

The point here being, sometimes it is safer and far less of a headache to just give a persistent harasser a phone number. But that doesn’t mean you have to give him your actual phone number. As a matter of fact, a recent tweet from user @tricookingqueen went viral for sharing four beautiful fake “hotline” numbers to give out to unrelenting creeps to laugh or cry at later in the comfort of their smelly dens.

Her tweet racked up over 230,000 likes and 142,000 retweets in five days’ time — but before you get your hopes up, just know that only the first number works as promised.

Again, yes, I know, besides the first one, the numbers aren’t for real.

The rejection hotline, however, does work. And in case you’re feeling sassy, there also exists the Feminist Phone Intervention Line, which spits out an automatically-generated quote from bell hooks when texted.

That number is: 669-221-6251.

And here are a few more to add to your repertoire:

Go forth, and be safe!
