Cardi B and Azealia Banks have re-ignited their beef on social media this week and folks–strap in because this is going to be a wild ride.
Back when “Bodak Yellow” dropped and was hitting the charts hard in 2017, Banks had called Cardi B a “poor man’s Nicki Minaj,” saying that Cardi was “uneducated and untalented.” The since-deleted tweets caused Cardi to clap back at Banks–but since then, things simmered down between the two women.
Until that is, Banks appeared on 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” this week and threw some strong words at Cardi B. In the interview, Banks claims that Cardi is an “illiterate, untalented rat” and claims that she’s one of the biggest problems for black women today.
“Two years ago, the conversation surrounding black women’s culture was really reaching an all-time high. There was just this really, really, really intelligent conversation going on nationally and then everything just kind of changed and then it was like Cardi B.”
She continued to say that there was a double standard for Cardi B, that she can be this “person” and act a certain way because she’s not black, and can “play up black culture,” because she, herself, is not black.
You can see the full interview here–Banks starts up about Cardi B around the 22:00 mark.
After the interview went viral and people heard Banks’ comments, Cardi B clapped back right away on Instagram–commenting on video posts of the Interview, and posting something herself.

After she posted this, however, Cardi B deactivated her Instagram account and put her Twitter account on private.
Banks, however, did clap-back to Cardi on Instagram after seeing her reaction–saying:
Clearly, this is some insane beef between both ladies. While this entire situation was popping off, people on Twitter had some honest opinions, some siding with Cardi, some siding with Banks.

A response to Azealia Banks’ toxicity should not be “but she spoke facts.” I can’t with the way she treats Black women then try to be loving when it’s convenient for her. She isn’t happy with anyone (barely herself) and it is harmful especially when fans sweep it under the rug.

Everything Azealia banks said about Cardi B is true, accurate and concise. That was an entire sociological argument that Cardi really doesn’t have the vernacular or literacy to understand…🤷🏾♂️

The thing is I get the point that Azealia Banks is trying to make but she goes about it in a way that causes more drama. Cardi B is living her best life and she’s pregnant, why look for her trouble?

Azealia Banks spoke facts. It is insulting to women that breathe rap for someone “that didn’t ask to be here” to be pushed to the top simply bc the media likes her & we damn sure wouldn’t let all them grammatical errors fly if it was Nicki Minaj

Azealia Banks is both problematic and correct a lot of the time. it's a concept called duality

Azealia Banks spoke nothing but facts!!! Cardi B deactivated her Instagram and made her Twitter private…. the Truth hurts.

Where did Azealia Banks lie? Cardi B is literally an imitation of black women that black women arent even allowed to be .

Cardi B and Azealia Banks are the same form of problematic. But y’all accept from Cardi because she lightskin so y’all think it’s funny while ridiculing Azealia.
