A 26-year-old Connecticut man with a serious crush on Taylor Swift robbed a bank and drove to the singer’s Rhode Island mansion, where he tossed the stolen cash over her fence in an attempt to impress her.
According to Ansonia Police Department, Derby resident Bruce Rowley has been arrested one day after he allegedly held up the Webster Bank in Ansonia, Connecticut.
A spokesman for the APD said Rowley admitted to stealing $1600, adding that he drove the 60 miles to Swift’s Westerly home to drop it off . He was chased back into Connecticut by Rhode Island cops where he was apprehended. Police say that they didn’t know about the Taylor Swift aspect of the robbery until he was in custody.
“It seemed he wanted to propose to her, but she wasn’t home when he went there. He said he threw some of the money over a fence to impress her.”
Rowley was charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree larceny and is being held on $100,000 bail.
