Over the weekend, Mark Wahlberg took to Twitter to respond to the aggressive backlash he received from his massive paycheck he took, while the entire cast and crew did the reshoots for next to nothing. In a simple tweet, Wahlberg confessed he donated 100% of his $1.5 million paycheck to the ‘Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund’ in his co-star, Michelle Williams’, name. He said he “100% supports the fight for fair pay.”

Michelle Williams spoke out after Wahlberg’s announcement saying:
“Today isn’t about me. My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted. If we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice.Today is one of the most indelible days of my life because of Mark Wahlberg, WME and a community of women and men who share in this accomplishment. Anthony Rapp, for all the shoulders you stood on, now we stand on yours.”
Some people were appreciative of Wahlberg’s decision.
I love you.

Others felt he shouldn’t have had to give up his money.
Nice, but you shouldn't have to do that. Her reps/agency and the producers should. They're the ones who failed her. Your reps/agency did exactly what they're supposed to do for you – look out for your best interest. It's a shame the same wasn't done for her.

That’s very kind of you @mark_wahlberg but I honestly think that is not your fault that you are a great actor and let’s say any actress just because is a girl even tho doesn’t have the talent should get paid the same as you? 🤔

I understand and even appreciate your nobility. But, you did nothing wrong by negotiating your wage. We should all do that.
