7 Ways To Tell Your Seasonal Depression To Suck It

4. Go on dates.

Go out with your boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, mom, grandma, your dog, anyone. The winter may suck but there are tons of fun stuff to do if you do a little bit of searching. Look for fun things you’d be interested in doing that will get you into the spirit of the season, even if it’s just going out for a quick bite to eat, and surround yourself with positive people. Just get out of the house and find a way to enjoy the season one way or another. It doesn’t always have to be bad, so do something to remind yourself of that!

5. Dress appropriately for the weather.

It’s really easy to just throw on a hoodie and walk around outside because it takes 0 effort. But the frigid air and your inevitable discomfort will only add to the reasons the season is bringing you down. Dress warm, stay comfortable, and you’ll be able to enjoy the outdoor weather without unnecessary suffering.

6. Wake up earlier.

In the winter, the sun comes up earlier, and it goes down earlier. Try setting your alarm a couple hours earlier and enjoy the day in its entirety. By being present for the day, time won’t feel as lost when the sun sets at 4:30, and you’ll most likely be more productive altogether. Make sure you’re taking a warm shower first thing in the morning to invigorate your senses and have a nice, warm start to a chilly day.

7. Keep up your holiday decorations a little bit longer.

The holidays are the heart of the winter season, and the decorations are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Why does the celebration and the reminder of love and family have to be removed so soon? There’s no rule that as soon as January 1st comes along, all your lights must come down. So why not keep them up and harbor the holiday spirit a tad longer? Whatever you celebrate, embrace the holiday and remind yourself of how joyous this season can be.
