Supermodel Gigi Hadid is the latest model to take part of Love Magazine’s advent calendar video series. Prior to this, Emily Ratajkowski rolled around in some spaghetti, as one does, and Ashley Graham rid a bobsled through Manhattan. Now Gigi Hadid shadowboxes and violently hair-whips in an empty white room, the most exciting part of which happens to be her armpit hair.
Which would’ve been kinda cool…if in fact it was armpit hair. And if a lot of the people who originally thought it was armpit hair weren’t grossed out by it. “I’m Gigi Hadid. Today is freeform day,” announces the supermodel, before doing some exercises, throughout which glimpses can be caught of some fuzz underneath her supermodel arms.
ANYWAY, as is Internet-normal, many folks found the possibility of female body hair utterly abhorrent.
While others were pretty stoked on this video, calling it the “best one yet” because of the feminist commentary made by Gigi’s armpit hair.
But here’s the thing: it’s actually not armpit hair at all.
The makeup artist styled Hadid for the shoot, Hung Vanngo, told us what was actually up in the Instagram comments— “It’s from the sweat & the dust of that building,” he wrote… sooo….decidedly not a feminist statement.
But still, the alleged armpit dirt begs the question, someone on set would’ve noticed it if it was just “dirt” right? Someone who also would’ve been like “hey, that’s clearly not dirt, here’s a baby wipe.” Who has an accumulation of “dirt” underneath their arms after some exercise-induced head banging, anyway?
Oh well. If anything, this proves the point is actually moot and we’re all just screaming at strangers in an echo chamber, the walls of which are a supermodel’s Instagram comments section.
