“She corrected me when I mispronounced the name of Gandalf’s sword. God, I love this woman.”

My now wife sang and played ‘Hey Jude’ for me on my sister-in-law’s couch three days into our relationship. She has horrible stage fright but at that moment I knew she was the one. Six years later we have a beautiful son named Jude and it’s her and I versus the world.

When her car was damaged in a parking lot while under my care (not at fault) and her first words to me upon seeing the damage were ‘Are you ok?’ That moment when you discover the woman you’re dating cares more for you than an expensive inanimate object is a moment you know.

We booked a trip to Italy pretty early in our relationship and [while at the airport] our flight was canceled due to the volcano in Iceland. We met with a lady who asked us ‘Well, where do you wanna go?’ My girlfriend (now wife) turned to me and said ‘Oh my God, we could see Machu Picchu. You wanna?!?’ We had only been dating a few months at that point, but I told her I loved her in the fountain park in Lima … We just celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary last month!

We were on our way to a dinner thing. I had to stop and get air for the tires, and it started to rain — hard. She spent three hours in the bathroom getting ready, and she got out of the car and put a hoodie on, and held the flashlight for me.

I honestly can’t remember a time I didn’t want to marry her.

We hadn’t slept in over 36 hours and we were driving down back roads from Six Flags Great America toward home. We got lost, and when I usually would get upset or flustered, I was oddly calm with her helping navigate. It seemed so significant to me that she had, just by being there, calmed me down that I knew our relationship was special.

My very good friend at the time asked me, ‘Then why don’t you marry her?’ I couldn’t come up with a single reason not to. We just celebrated our seven-year anniversary today.

We were waiting for the rain to stop after we had finished buying groceries. It was pouring rain, and I thought it would be great to run in the rain. I turned to my GF and was about to ask her when she asked me if I wanted to run in the rain. We walked to the car getting soaked together laughing.

It was not really a single moment but a long line of little things that built up to it. She is my best friend in the world and the most beautiful woman in the world to me. One day I decided I wanted to get married and have her in my life until the end. Of course, I had a feeling that I would ask her on day one but I was in love and thought that after a year or two I would feel different. Nope. Still, love her like the day I met her.
