Only One of These Diamonds Is Forever


You’ve probably already seen the Taylor-Burton Diamond, formerly known as the Krupp Diamond. It’s definitely one of the most famous diamonds, purchased by actor Richard Burton in 1969 just three years after it was pulled from the ground in South Africa for $1.1 million. Elizabeth Taylor apparently found the 241 carat stone too heavy to wear as a ring in it’s original setting, and so commissioned an $80,000 necklace to be made to hold the pear-cut stone. And that’s just one example!
