Ariel Winter Opens Up About Her Abusive Childhood & It’s Quite Shocking

Some of Ariel’s allegations against her mother featured on official court documents describe both physical and emotional abuse like “hitting, slapping, pushing, etc.” Not only that but apparently she was also pretty restricted at what it was she could eat. So much so that her teacher on set would “order herself extra lunches just so that she could share with Ariel.”

“Boiled chicken and cucumbers aren’t going to do it for a growing kid,” Sacks added.

Ariel was also known to be kept out late by being forced to attend numerous Hollywood A-list parties that seemed to affect her sleeping hours. Actors are usually called in on very early morning times and Ariel was no exception having to show up at 6:30/7:00 AM after a whole night out only being 12-years-old at the time.

Her father was also pretty absent in the whole scene, choosing to step back from all the drama and eventually splitting from her mom. Ariel was not close with her sister at the time, having only met her on some occasions which ultimately left her alone and with nowhere to go. So it came to her as a complete shock that her sister would take her under her wing after preparing herself to go under foster care after reporting her mother to Child Protective Services.

Due to so many disappointing incidents, her mental state took a toll. Ariel’s favorite part of the week was her weekly visit to her therapist. Now being diagnosed with depression, she openly understands the importance of suicide awareness and prevention.

Today, she thanks her sister for giving her the opportunity to actually make some real “girl” friends as she was not allowed to do so because of “alleged competition trying to book jobs” but more importantly for being able to grow up like a normal girl.

Now, Ariel has never felt more at peace with herself and is currently living with her boyfriend Levi Maeden and her three beloved pups. She is also expected to attend UCLA soon with plans to pursue politics, law or social justice.

You know what they always say, never judge a book by its cover.
