In Game of Thrones, it’s no secret that our favorite characters sometimes face the hardest end of all – death. The HBO series has been well known to be ruthless and quick to kill of characters with no remorse. And, fans have long known it to be the one show that does it better than any other series on TV.
But, what is it like for the actors who play these characters to find out that they are being killed off? Well – it has to be strange right?
Jessica Henwick who plays Nymeria Sand – aka Nym aka one of the Dorne daughters – reveled to Entertainment Weekly the phone call she received from show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Henwick has not been on the show as regularly as most and had been shooting the new Marvel film “Iron Fist,” when she received the call.
She told EW –
“I was in New York filming ‘Iron Fist’ and I got a call from [“Game of Thrones” show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss], the double Ds. As soon as you hear that more than one of them is on the call you know what that means. If it’s just one they’re probably talking about the story. But if it’s both of them then you know.”
So, basically, it’s like a Mean Girls 3-way call that you aren’t expecting to happen – but when it does, your heart sinks into your stomach and you know the end is near.
Henwick ended up flying from New York City where she was filming Iron Fist to Belfast – where they were shooting some episodes of Season 7 – to ensure fans they had “closure” to Nymeria Sand’s storyline. And, we all know how that ended last week.
