People Who Eat French Fries Are Likely To Die Younger, But F*ck It

Who cares?

Bad news for everyone who loves to hit up their local drive-through for french fries every now and then (or ever week) – a new study says that eating fried potatoes can cause an earlier death in people.

Womp. Womp.

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found in a recent study that people who eat french fries and other fried potatoes can double the risk of early death.

The study consisted of 4,440 adults between the ages of 45-79. They were followed for 8 years and tracked what they ate everyday through a food questionnaire and food journals. During the 8-years, according to the study’s authors, 236 of the adults had died.

What was the culprit? Apparently, fried potatoes.

The authors concluded that people in the study who ate 2-3 portions of fried potatoes every week – hasbrowns, tater tots, potato chips and french fries – had double the risk of death.

“The frequent consumption of fried potatoes appears to be associated with an increased mortality risk. Additional studies in larger sample sizes should be performed to confirm if overall potato consumption is associated with higher mortality risk.”

While that sounds f*cking awful, I’m not sure I’m ready to give up eating french fries for good. They just taste so amazing. I’m not willing to say goodbye. It’d be too painful.
